To answer this question, you will need to articulate what you define as good physical health and then compare your ideal to your current state. Taking care of your physical health is key to maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Eating nutritious meals, minimizing or eliminating recreational drugs or alcohol, and engaging in regular physical activity can help promote good physical health and can also help improve your mental well-being. Eating poorly and forgetting to exercise are often the first things we forget when challenging events unfold. However, it is not enough to simply exercise and “eat right” to be in good health. Imbalances in the body, hidden infections from heavy metals, mold, and parasites, and poor gut health can go undetected and present in unique ways for different people. Explore your definitions and assumptions for what you do to be healthy. • How well do you sleep and do you know how significant of an impact sleep can have on your health? • Do you know about the research done regarding sugar and its impact on your body? • Do you know how diet changes can affect your health? Keto, Carnivore, No Sugar, Lion, Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD), Fasting, etc. • Do you know about the gut-brain axis and the significance of a balanced gut microbiome? Do you take probiotics? • Do you regularly treat your pets for parasitic infections? Why should humans be treated any differently? What do you know about parasitic transmissibility? • What role do toxic exposures, molds, heavy metals, parasites, and other immune-suppressing conditions play in autoimmune diseases and cancers? • Have you researched Pulse Electro-Magnetic Field (PEMF) Therapy? • Do you have any toxic exposures? • Have you explored or committed to trying some form of meditation for at least a week? • Have you ever tried having a massage/acupuncture/ dry needling? • Do you use journaling to aid in your mental reflections? • How often do you exercise? • Have you explored martial arts as a form of mind, body, and spirit exercise and discipline training? • Do you know about functional medicine and the differences in approach for diagnosis and treatment compared to traditional allopathic medicine? #42 Am I in good emotional health? Your physical and emotional health are deeply connected and affect one another. The same considerations for exploration are recommended for your emotional health as for your physical health. Changing your diet or improving your gut microbiome can drastically alter and improve your mood and mental functions. Neglecting these important parts of your body, however, can have severe negative impacts on your mood, worldview, and outlook on life. For example, severe food poisoning or frequent use of antibiotics can significantly change the bacteria in your gut microbiome. #43 Do I have any acute or chronic health problems? If so, what are they? Mapping your health problems (or lack thereof) can be a crucial part of understanding how your health impacts other elements of your life. Acute health problems are those that come on suddenly and can include illnesses such as the flu or a broken bone. Chronic health problems are those that are long-term and can include conditions such as asthma, diabetes, toxic exposures to mold or heavy metals, and parasitic infections. Having an awareness of any acute or chronic health problems can help you to identify any additional care or support you may need to ensure you are optimizing your health. Some health conditions can go unnoticed for years and may start a gradual and subtle decline. Capturing thoughts around your current health state may aid in pinpointing or tracing back future health issues to when they began, which could be useful as part of your treatment process. #44 What would be required to solve these health issues? For example, time, money, or new scientific advances. Take control of your health and use medical experts and doctors to guide you. Identify the actions or things that are required to improve your health; it could be a change in habits, the purchase of an expensive treatment protocol, or the discovery of a new treatment approach. Also, identify the actions you’ve taken in the past to try and solve your health issues. Did those actions work, not work, and why? Regardless of your answer, after identifying what you think would be required, consider exploring outside your preconceived notions. Science evolves, and what is commonly believed about health, treatment, and the human body today—as opposed to what is considered fringe science—may change. #45 Have I researched on my own to find a solution I can explore with my doctors? Good doctors are one of your greatest assets, but like in any field, new discoveries and innovations are rapidly developing. You can aid your doctors by doing research and reading academic publications on Google Scholar (https://scholar.google.com). This can also enable you to have a better, more informed discussion with your doctors and lead to finding the treatment that is best for you. By researching potential solutions on your own, maintain an objective stance. Do not allow emotions or ego to influence your research or cloud your judgment. The goal should be to learn and become an expert in your own health so that you can proactively identify changes in your health and optimize your well-being. Finding a doctor or team of doctors with whom you can learn from, challenge with facts and new discoveries, and collaborate with will allow you to benefit from your understanding of your body and their medical expertise for an optimal outcome. #46 Do my doctors know what they are talking about, and are they open to exploring new scientific research for alternative treatments if my condition does not improve? Having an understanding of your medical team’s level of knowledge and open-mindedness to new treatments can help you make informed decisions about your treatment approach. Similar to the ideas in other health questions, nobody in any industry can be aware of every new development or innovation that is occurring. As a result, it is your responsibility to help your doctors identify possible approaches to treatments and discuss options. It is also your responsibility to select the right type of doctor. You will have to decide if you want someone who follows a standard diagnostic protocol and prescribes typical/standard treatments and medications, or if you want someone who is open to learning, experimenting, implementing alternative treatments based on your individuality, and listening to feedback. If your doctor is knowledgeable about the latest developments in your condition, they may be able to offer you more advanced treatments that could potentially improve your outcome. On the other hand, if they are not up-to-date on new research and not open to exploring alternative treatments, you may choose to look for a new provider who is more knowledgeable and open to trying new treatments. It is also important to understand if your doctor is open to exploring new scientific research for alternative treatments. If your condition does not improve through traditional means, many conditions have multiple treatment options available, and it is essential to work with a doctor who is willing to explore different options if the current treatments are not successful. There are many niche sciences that have been clearly demonstrated through peer-reviewed academic publications at some of the most renowned medical universities to be viable and sometimes more effective treatment alternatives to traditional treatments—you just need to look. #47 What would change if I could solve my chronic health issues? What would remain the same? Many people suffer from chronic health issues, whether it is disease, an infection, or a musculoskeletal issue. Finding the motivation to do something about a condition or part of yourself that you have accepted as “just part of who I am” can be difficult. Too often, people choose to avoid a new way of thinking or a new habit and behavior because it requires effort. To gain motivation and a desire to change, consider exploring how the removal of your conditions could positively impact your life. For example, if you have chronic pain, you may have had to adjust your activities to accommodate the pain. If you could ameliorate your chronic health issues, you could potentially resume activities that you have had to give up, which may bring joy to your life. #48 How committed am I to solving my health issues? How committed am I to maintaining my health after recovery? Good health is hard to appreciate until it is lost. Having spent time exploring how your life could be different and how you can take a more active role in your own health and wellness, it is now time to explore your commitment to enacting and maintaining these changes. You could create a plan of action, make a list of goals or priorities, or simply commit to learning more about the conditions you have/had experienced. #49 Have I explored alternative forms of wellness and healing? Why or why not? Many forms of medicine exist outside the traditional American medical system. Oftentimes, these alternatives are left unexplored until after the traditional approach has exhausted options. Exploring alternative forms of wellness and healing can open us up to new experiences that can have positive impacts on our health. For example, incorporating mindfulness practices such as meditation or yoga can help to reduce stress and anxiety, improve focus and concentration, and even lead to an increase in overall well-being. Natural remedies, such as acupuncture, herbal medicines, and aromatherapy, can be used to treat physical and emotional ailments while also providing a sense of relaxation. Pulse Electro-Magnetic Field (PEMF) Therapy has been shown to provide numerous health benefits, including being a “highly promising strategy” for cancer treatment (Maria Vadalà et al., 2016). https://youranswersbook.com/pemf/
