A THEORY OF DAY

Scientists tell us that the Universe is expanding. Einstein’s theory of special relativity tells us that the faster an object moves the slower it experiences time. So, as the Universe expands we on Earth are moving through space experiencing time slower. Some scientists also say that the Universe will eventually slow down and start imploding on to itself (the Big Crunch) which means that, as we move through space we are slowing down; time becoming quicker. The thing is we cannot tell the difference as time seems normal either way – except that the spin of the Earth on its axis remains the same and so at zero expansion, our clocks will measure a whole calendar year for the Sun to rise and set only once (An-Nawaas b. Sam’aan, Sahih Muslim, hadith 2137).
